Peer Review Process

Applied Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Technology (APPT)

The Applied Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Technology (APPT) applies a double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, integrity, and objectivity of all manuscripts published in the journal. Both the reviewers and the authors remain anonymous throughout the review process to promote fairness and impartiality.

1. Initial Screening

After submission, each manuscript is first screened by the editorial office to ensure compliance with the journal’s aims, scope, formatting guidelines, and ethical standards. The manuscript is also checked for plagiarism using similarity detection software. Submissions that do not meet the basic requirements may be returned to the authors for correction or rejected without peer review.

2. Peer Review Assignment

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to an Editor or Associate Editor, who then selects at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise in the subject area. The reviewers are invited based on their academic qualifications, publication record, and experience in the research topic.

3. Double-Blind Review Process

During the double-blind review, the reviewers evaluate the manuscript without knowing the authors’ identities, and vice versa. The reviewers assess the manuscript for originality, scientific rigor, methodology, relevance, clarity of presentation, and significance of the results.

Each reviewer provides detailed feedback and may recommend one of the following decisions:

  • Accept without revision

  • Accept with minor revision

  • Accept with major revision

  • Reject

4. Editorial Decision

After receiving the reviewers’ reports, the assigned editor evaluates their comments and makes an editorial decision. The final decision may be based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the editor’s assessment, and the overall scientific contribution of the manuscript.

Revised manuscripts are re-evaluated by the same reviewers (if necessary) to ensure that all concerns have been adequately addressed. The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection.

5. Review Timeline

The standard review process takes approximately 4–12 weeks, depending on reviewer availability and the complexity of the manuscript.
Authors who select the Fast-Track Review option will receive editorial and peer review decisions within 2 weeks, although this does not guarantee immediate publication.

6. Reviewer Confidentiality and Ethics

All manuscripts under review are treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not share, copy, or use any part of the manuscript for personal or professional purposes. Reviewers are also required to declare any potential conflicts of interest before accepting an assignment.

7. Appeals and Complaints

Authors who wish to appeal a review or editorial decision may contact the editorial office by providing a clear justification for reconsideration. Appeals are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief, whose decision will be final.

8. Final Proof and Publication

Once accepted, the manuscript undergoes copyediting and proofreading before publication. The corresponding author is responsible for reviewing the final proof to ensure accuracy before online publication.

9. Transparency Statement

The peer review process of Applied Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Technology (APPT) is conducted according to the COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers. The journal is committed to maintaining transparency, fairness, and academic integrity throughout all stages of the review and publication process.
