Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement
Applied Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Technology (APPT)
The Applied Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Technology (APPT) journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and ensuring the integrity of all published works. The journal follows the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors, which outline the ethical responsibilities of authors, reviewers, and editors.
1. Responsibilities of Authors
Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are original, accurate, and free from plagiarism or fraudulent data. The same research should not be submitted to more than one journal simultaneously or published elsewhere.
All authors listed on the manuscript must have made a significant contribution to the research and agreed to its final version. Authorship should reflect real participation in the design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the study. Guest or honorary authorship is strictly prohibited.
Authors are required to provide full and accurate details of all materials, methods, and data used, ensuring reproducibility of their work. Any potential conflicts of interest must be clearly disclosed.
If the study involves human or animal subjects, the authors must state that ethical approval has been obtained from an appropriate ethics committee and that research was conducted in accordance with recognized ethical standards (e.g., Declaration of Helsinki).
2. Plagiarism and Data Integrity
Plagiarism in any form — including direct copying, paraphrasing without proper citation, or using others’ ideas or data without acknowledgment — is considered unethical and unacceptable. The journal uses plagiarism detection software to screen all submitted manuscripts.
Authors must ensure that all data presented are accurate and not manipulated or fabricated. Any form of data fabrication or falsification (e.g., image manipulation, selective reporting, or data alteration) will lead to rejection or retraction of the manuscript.
3. Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers play a vital role in maintaining the scientific quality of the journal. They are expected to evaluate manuscripts objectively, confidentially, and without bias.
Reviewers should provide constructive comments to help authors improve their manuscripts and identify any ethical or methodological issues. All information obtained during peer review must remain confidential and must not be used for personal advantage.
If a reviewer suspects plagiarism, data fabrication, or ethical violations, they must report it to the editor immediately. Reviewers must also declare any conflicts of interest that could affect their judgment.
4. Responsibilities of Editors
Editors are responsible for ensuring a fair, transparent, and timely peer-review process. Editorial decisions must be based solely on the scientific merit of the manuscript and its relevance to the journal’s scope, without any commercial or personal influence.
Editors must ensure that all manuscripts are evaluated by qualified reviewers who have no conflict of interest with the authors or institutions involved. The editor has the authority to reject, request revision, or accept manuscripts based on reviewers’ recommendations and ethical considerations.
Editors are also responsible for maintaining the integrity of the published record by issuing corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern when necessary.
5. Retraction Policy
If ethical violations such as plagiarism, data falsification, or duplicate publication are discovered after publication, the article may be retracted following COPE Retraction Guidelines. Retraction notices will clearly state the reasons and remain permanently accessible.
Minor errors that do not affect the scientific integrity of the paper may be corrected through a corrigendum or erratum.
6. Conflicts of Interest and Funding Disclosure
All authors, reviewers, and editors must declare any financial or personal relationships that could influence their work. Authors must also disclose all sources of research funding or support.
7. Publisher’s Statement
The publisher of Applied Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Technology (APPT) takes its duties of guardianship over all stages of publishing seriously. The journal is committed to ensuring that advertising, reprints, or other commercial revenues have no impact on editorial decisions.
